Graduated in geology, and PhD in Environmental Sciences, he is a Scientist at the Institute of Polar Sciences of the CNR (Italy)
His research activity is focused on glacial and periglacial geomorphology in polar and alpine environments, as well as the associated climatic and paleoclimatic dynamics in a time interval from the end of the last glacial maximum (LGM) to the present.
He participated in several international scientific expeditions to Antarctica, Chilean Andes, Karakorum, and the Alps.
Qualified as Full Professor (UK Professor) in Physical Geography and Geomorphology (GEO-04), since 2016 he has been adjunct Professor in glaciology at the Department of Mathematics and Geosciences of the University of Trieste.
Extremely active in the field of scientific dissemination, he was already President of the Meteorological Union of Friuli Venezia Giulia (UMFVG-NPO), of which he is a founding member, from 2010 to 2016.
2014 - 2017 Council Member at for the European Meteorological Society .
Since 2015 organizer and convener of the session atmosphere-cryosphere interactions at the EMS Annual Meeting
Since 2019, Italian representative for the Internationale Permafrost Association.
